The 2017-18 edition of SANMILAN was held on February 24 - 25, 2018 on the theme Make in India : Opportunities for Startups in North East India. The keynote address of the intellectual convergence in its 14th edition was given by Prof. Papori Baruah, Head, Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University. The events of SANMILAN incuded Manthan - the Panel Discussion, BizMantra - the open Business Quiz, SuperInvestor - the Investment Portfolio competition, Shristi - the Art Exhibition, Drive the Talk - the Group Discussion Competition, Sparkz - the Business Idea competition and Khoj - the Treasure Hunt.
The panelists of the panel discussion were Dr. Pranjal Kumar Phukan, Senior Manager (C & P), BCPL; Mr. Balaram Roy, Designated Partner, Samasta Exploration and Services, LLP and Mr. Devdeep Bharadwaj, Cluster Manager, ICICI Bank. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Deb Kumar Chakraborty, Head, Department of Economics, Dibrugarh University. The Quizmaster of BizMantra was Dr. Upakul Sarmah of Tezpur University. The first, second and third prize winners of the Quiz Competition were Sahbaz Ahmed & Jyotish Kalita, Deepjyoti Kalita & Dilip Kumar Sarma and Abhijit Singh & Sidharta Gautam respectively.
Sparkz was judged by Mr. Gouree Shankar Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics; Dr. Deepom Baruah, Assistant Professor, Centre for Juridical Studies and Dr. Aradhana Borthakur, Assistant Professor, CMSDU. The winner of Sparkz was Trishanku Kumar Borah. Drive the Talk was judged by Dr. Pranjal Protim Buragohain, Associate Professor, Department of Economics; Dr. Suman Mahanta, Assistant Professor, CMSDU and Ms. Jennifer Shaheen Hussain, Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass communication. The first, second and third prize winners of Drive the Talk were Trishanku Kumar Boarh, Sanjoy Das and Vishal Dutta. The first prize winners of Khoj were Hansantanu Roy, Nishantadep Kakati, Himanshu Bora & Sankalpa Bora while the second prize winners were Parishmita Phukan, Supriya Kakoty, Pallab Jyoti Hazarika & Pulakesh Kaman. The first, second and third prize winners of SuperInvestor were Priyanka Lohia & Bibek Kumar Jain, Bhargav Rishabh Baruah & Zafrid Sahid Hussain and Ghanashyam Taid & Rajdeep Ghosh respectively.
The last event of SANMILAN 2017 - 18 was the cultural afternoon Autumn Aura where the students of the Centre displayed their talents. The sponsors for SANMILAN 2017-18 were Tanishq, Tata Motors, Samasta Exploration and Services LLP, Royal Brothers Enterprise, Decool Mineral Water, Hotel Sqaure Park, Abali Organic Tea and Sushakti Tea. It is to be mentioned that as a prequel to SANMILAN, a mini marathon and a painting competition was organized on November 12, 2017 and February 18, 2018 respectively. The chief coordinator of SANMILAN 2017 - 18 was Dr. Pratim Barua while the student coordinator was Parth Pratim Gogoi.
