Continuing its tradition, the Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University held its 19th Alumni Meet on November 9, 2025 at its premises. The Alumni Meet was organized by Samannay – the CMSDU Alumni Association. This year’s meet was powered by the 2011 Batch of MBA (FT) and was supported by two corporate houses – Royal Enfield and Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL). Dibrugarh Unofficial was the media partner.
The meet started with registration of the Alumni who had come for the Alumni Meet. Around 50 former students registered. Many also joined virtually. Prof. Pratim Barua, Chairperson of the Centre inaugurated the meet in presence of the President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Hriday Ranjan Das, other office bearers, alumni, teachers, students and staff. Prof. Barua is also an alumni and the treasurer of the Association. A one minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for Late Zubeen Garg, the cultural icon of Assam who left the mortal world in September.
Prof. Barua during his speech remarked that the Centre has been successful in creating a strong and involved alumni network which is no ordinary feat and it is something few educational institutes are able to achieve. He hoped that the alumni would continue to contribute towards the growth of the Centre in the days ahead. Mr. Das in his speech thanked everyone specially the batch of MBA (FT) 2011 for their support in holding the meet.
The alumni present reminisced their days in the Centre and shared their professional experiences for the benefit of the current students. The alumni who joined online also did the same. A few cultural items were presented by the current students to entertain the alumni. Before the lunch break, the 17th edition of the Alumni Magazine – Expose was released. In the post lunch session, there was an open interaction between the alumni and the current students where the queries of the current students were answered by the alumni. Dr. Himadri Barman, Assistant Professor of the Centre thanked everyone for their time and effort in making the meet successful and declared the meet closed after the interaction.

It is worth mentioning that as on date, Samannay has 921 life members. Established in 2006, the Association was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in 2022. It has been undertaking many activities for the benefit of the Centre and the society. The most recent activity was the holding of a Free Eye Checkup Camp on November 8, 2025 at the Centre’s premises which saw the registration of 123 people. Free medicines were also distributed. It was organized in association with Lion K K Saharia Eye Hospital, Dibrugarh.
