The 2025 edition of Rhapsody, an important course related academic event where tech meets management, took place on 4 November, 2025 at the Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University. The event was conducted by the 1st Semester MBA (FT) students. This year, the topic of discussion was Digital Compliance for Startups: GST, E-Filling and Tax Technology. The resource person was Mr. Raja Boruah, a qualified Chartered Accountant. Hailing from Kakopathar in Tinsukia district of Assam; he started his professional practice in 2021. As a young and dynamic Chartered Accountant, he has conducted numerous Taxation Workshops and Career Counselling Programs in various schools, colleges and universities.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Himadri Barman, Assistant Professor, Centre for Management Studies. Dibrugarh University who takes the course on “Computer Applications in Management”. Rhapsody is held as part of this course. In his speech, Dr. Barman gave a genesis of the event and why it is organized. He requested all the participants to learn from the resource person and make the best possible use of the opportunity. The event was attended by around 125 students of MBA (FT) 1st Semester and BBA 3rd Semester of the Centre along with students from the Department of Commerce, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology (DUIET), Centre for Computer Science and Applications, Dibrugarh University, DHSK Commerce College, Dibrugarh and MDKG College, Dibrugarh.
CA Raja Boruah enlightened the gathering regarding financial literacy in matters relating to the different types of ownerships to choose for a startup like sole proprietorship, partnership, LLP, Company, etc.; the different types of Government financial schemes available to startups; online platforms available for startups to facilitate ease of doing business; GST and its compliances for startups and businesses; and Income Tax related requirements and compliances for startups and businesses. Practical demonstrations were given on the portals relating to GST and Income Tax. At last a discussion was held on the importance of startups and other businesses and getting them updated with the latest compliances and technology. He categorically mentioned that the government tracks business related data and are integrating the various online platforms so that tax evasion and othe malpractices are curbed.His presentation and deliberations were well received by the audience,
