Samannay - the CMSDU Alumni Association organized the 18th Alumni Meet of Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University on November 10, 2024 with a day-long programme. The Alumni Meet was powered by the MBA (FT) 2016 Batch of the Centre. Corporate sponsorship came from Royal Enfield, JSB Infrastructure and Amar Constructions. 53 alumni from various programmes and batches of the Centre participated in the meet apart from the students and teachers of the Centre.
The inaugural function was presided over by the President of the Association, Mr. Hriday Ranjan Das who is an alumnus of the MBA (FT) 2010 Batch. Prof. Pratim Barua, Chairperson of the Centre shared the dais with him. Prof. Barua is also an alumnus of the Centre and Treasurer of the Alumni Association. The whole programme was anchored by Dr. Himadri Barman, General Secretary of Samannay. Prof. Barua in his speech took the audience down the memory lane as he was the first teacher who joined the Centre on January 16, 2003. He recollected the hardships and challenges of the early days of the Centre and the way the teachers and the students responded to the challenges. Mr. Das in his speech thanked everyone for being a part of the meet and making it successful. He hoped that the alumni through their suggestions and cooperation would contribute to their alma mater and help it scale new heights. There was a formal introduction session for all the alumni who were present in the meet.
The 16th edition of Expose, the alumni magazine which was edited by Dr. Himadri Barman was also released with Mr. Abdul Rakib of the MBA (FT) first batch (2003) and Ms. Syeda Tanzila Arfin of the BBA first batch (2004) being invited to the dais to do the honours. A minute's silence was also observed for Late Prabahon Bora, a member of the alumni association belonging to the MBA (FT) 2017 Batch who left the mortal world on December 3, 2023. The students of the Centre enthralled the audience through a few songs and dances. A few alumni also performed and showcased their skills.
In the post-lunch session, the house was opened for the interaction of the alumni with the students. The alumni answered many queries from the students regarding many issues including placement and career. Considerable time was also spent on discussing about SANMILAN 2025 tentatively scheduled for February 14 & 15, 2025 with the alumni assuring all help in organizing the intellectual convergence which was last held in online mode in 2021. The meet ended with a wrap up of the day and a vote of thanks by Dr. Barman.
It is to be mentioned that the alumni count of the Centre after 22 years of its existence is 1762 with 825 of them being life members of Samannay - the Alumni Association of CMSDU. The association has contributed immensely to the Centre in terms of training and placement opportunities for the students besides contributing financial and infrastructural help to the Centre.
