Second Ranjit Kumar Dutta Leadership Lecture Concludes Sucessfully

Organized by Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University, the Second Ranjit Kumar Dutta Leadership Lecture went off successfully at Dibrugarh University on March 29, 2023. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Vartika Shukla, CMD of Engineers India Limited who in her inspirational talk delved on the requirements of a successful leader. Reminiscing her own leadership journey, she in her lecture talked about achieving a balance in the life of a leader and reiterated on the importance of taking decisions, on keeping things simple and the ability to innovate on even the mundane of things. She emphasized on the need to be curious and to dream big. Earlier, while inaugurating the lecture, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, the Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University thanked Ms. Shukla on accepting the invitation to deliver the lecture. During the course of his lecture, he talked about the various forms of leadership and motivated the students through tales and examples.

As part of the lecture programme, the Bhubaneswar Barman Memorial Award, 2021 was presented to Ms. Namrata Mahanta of the MBA (FT) 2019 Batch for being the topper amongst Girls in her batch which carried a trophy, a Certificate and a cheque of ₹ 10,000/-. The award was accepted by Ms. Jumi Mahanta, family member of Namrata Mahanta. The welcome address for the lecture was given by Prof. Pratim Barua, the Chairperson of Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University while the Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. S K Barua, former MD of Numaligarh Refinery Limited and one of the trustees of Ranjit Kumar Dutta Memorial Lecture on Leadership.

The lecture was graced by the MD of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited, Mr. Reep Hazarika and the MD of NRL, Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan apart from officers of EIL, BCPL and NRL, as well as teachers and students of the Centre and the University. Prominent citizens of Dibrugarh including Mr. Manoj Jalan, Dr. Aradhana Kataki and Ms. Kalpana Khound added value to the lecture by their presence. The students of the Centre entertained the guests through a Chorus and a Sattriya dance recital towards the end the the lecture programme.
