The Training and Placement Cell of the Centre organized an online talk on Management as a Career in association with TIME, Guwahati. It was basically organized for the BBA and under-graduate students who want to do an MBA. The key speaker was Mr. Soumen Das, Director, TIME Guwahati. Another session was taken by Mr. Manosish Dutta.
Mr. Das who did his BTech from IIT, Guwahati and then his PGDM from IIM, Lucknow. Before, focusing on TIME, he worked in the Corporate world including the foreign shores. He talked in details about getting into a top-notch management institute in India, especially the IIMs by cracking the Common Admission Test (CAT) and the various strategies that may help in cracking it. The CAT format was discussed in details along with the kind of performance that can help the students in getting a call from the IIMs. He suggested the students to prepare hard and take help from experienced people while preparing for the CAT. He said that as part of the preparation, students can take mock tests also.
Mr. Dutta who is a BTech from Gauhati University took a session on Quantitative Aptitude wherein he discussed short-cuts of solving numerical problems. He said that his demonstration of short-cuts was to take the fear of mathematics away from students. The audience enjoyed his problem solving tricks and his emphasis on practicing problems. Before the end of the talk, Mr. Das answered a few queries from the audience. The session was moderated by Dr. Himadri Barman, the faculty-in-charge of the T & P Cell of the Centre. Dr. Barman thanked both the resource persons for their effort to piece together the programme in a meaningful and inciteful way. He hoped to have more such programmes in the future. Prof. Kumud Chandra Goswami had earlier given a small speech before the talks of the resource persons. He appreciated the initiative and hoped that the students would benefit from the talk. The talk was streamed lived on the YouTube channel of the Centre.
