The 1 – year Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management is a two semester diploma programme. The Programme has a mandatory Field Trip spanning around 2 weeks to places of tourist interest primarily in the North-east. It is presently coordinated by Prof. (Mrs.) Shiela Bora of the Department of History, Dibrugarh University. The PGDTM block is in the Annirudha Deva Bhawan.

The PGDTM session starts in August. The mandatory Field trip is generally undertaken after the first semester final examination. A candidate who has passed the Three Year Degree course in Arts, Science or Commerce from a recognized university/institute, securing at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate shall be eligible to apply for admission into the First Semester PGDTM course. Total intake is 15. Course fee is Rs. 15,000/- per semester.

An admission test for selection of candidates for the PGDTM course is held which comprises of a Written Test and a Personal Interview.

Each course has an internal assessment of 40 marks and an end semester examination of 60 marks. Course 20100 being entirely based on a Field Trip has no end semester examinations – the mark distribution is divided into 40 marks (Viva-Voce) and 60 marks (Field Report). Courses 10100 & 20400 have 30 marks as practical which is part of the 40 marks allotted for the respective internals. The internal assessment is done through sessionals, presentations, assignments, practicals and /or projects depending on the nature of the course. A student must attend at least 75% of classes in each course to be able to appear in the end semester examination as a regular candidate failing which they will be debarred from appearing in their end semester examinations (except under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Coordinator of the PGDTM Programme).

Students must score 40% for being declared pass in a course and an aggregate of 50% to pass a semester.
